LINKS is a research project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 (H2020) Research & Innovation Programme. LINKS falls under the Call SU-DRS01-2018-2019-2020 Human factors, and social, societal, and organisational aspects for disaster-resilient societies, alongside five sister projects: BuilDERS, CORE, ENGAGE, RESILOC, and RiskPACC. The collaboration concerns many aspects: exchange of best practices, sharing of the obtained results, interaction concerning the applied methodologies, joint participation in crucial events and workshops concerning the topicd of disaster resilient societis, etc.
The five projects have created the DRS-01 Cluster: https://www.cmine.eu/topics/20936/feed
BuildERS (Building European Communities’ Resilience and Social Capital)
BuildERS works on increasing the social resilience capital of European communities, and citizens. It will do this by genuinely co-designing processes and tools with citizens, first-responder organisations, and tool developers. The project will incorporate an inclusive and interactive research and analysis process, where the results are not derived ‘top-down’ but through a ‘bottom-top’ dynamic interaction.
CORE (sCience& human factOr for Resilient sociEty)
CORE will analyze different disaster scenarios including earthquake, tsunami, forest and wildland fires, flash flood, terrorist attack, industrial accident and the Covid-19 pandemic with a specific focus on needs of the most vulnerable people, to make them aware and prepared towards disaster risks and during major incidents and disasters.
ENGAGE (Engage Society for Risk Awareness and Resilience)
Natural and man-made disasters remind us how the ability of societies to adapt and prosper depends on the collective action of the whole society. The significant role citizens and communities can play at the grassroots level has been overlooked in research. ENGAGE will turn this around, showing how individuals and local practices can interrelate effectively with planned preparedness and response, practitioners and technology.
RESILOC (Resilient Europe and Societies by Innovating Local Communities)
RESILOC aims at studying and implementing a holistic framework of studies, methods, and software instruments that combines the physical with the less tangible aspects associated with human behavior.
RiskPACC will facilitate interaction between citizens and Civil Protection Authorities to jointly identify their needs and develop potential procedural and technical solutions to build enhanced disaster resilience.
LINKS is also one of the 12 projects of the PREPARE (PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE FOR EMERGENCY SITUATIONS IN EUROPE) Cluster. Each of the ten projects is tackling challenges specifically looking at the preparedness and response phases of crisis management and working together the Cluster aims to achieve stronger results and greater impact. We explore synergies, research opportunities and deliver joint activities to maximise impact. Here more information: https://pandem-2.eu/prepare-cluster/ . The other 11 projects are:
